![]() We have some bad news and some good news. There is a lot more about the game to share, but for now please enjoy this first tease of the game and one of the key gameplay possibilities that Earthlock 2 will explore Earthlock 2 will be an open-world action RPG with complex interlocking systems that work together to offer players extensive freedom to customise their own experience. The original Earthlock was a very classic turn-based late 90s JRPG-style experience, but with the success of the first game giving the team ample opportunity to grow, Earthlock 2 will take the franchise to the next level. The game’s story centres around a group of friends who must set out to find and rescue their missing family members. Along the border in the middle, there is an area that gets the best of both worlds. I didn't realize at all that I can remap the combat options. The Earthlock series is set on the planet of Umbra, which has stopped spinning on its axis, meaning half of the world is completely shrouded in darkness, while the other half is constantly baked in sunlight. I actually found out how to use Fire ++ ammo only when I got the last plant. I mean, why would I want to shoot at something with Fire if I have Fire ++? Upgrades could just replace "old ammunition". Maybe simplify ranged combat: Why are there different level of ammo available. But let me see at once that I travel to "sublocation X". Color them, make dots there for the sublocations, I don't know. Different icons per location: When teleporting to Suvia I can't count how often I landed up in that warehouse. Direct teleportation: I know, it somewhat makes sense storywise to always teleport to the homebase, but it would be nice to be able to skip that. Sure, it totally makes sense that only Gnart can harvest herbs and only Amon can scavenge scrap piles. Overland skills: It is really annoying to switch between overland skills. Scouting isn't an option, because it is too slow. Fights for no xp and without any challenge at all are pretty annoying. Overland travel: Later on those pesky low level critters become really annoying. The addition of fetch quests was welcome from the original, but there could always be more involved ones. Accessories in the next game which can let you block some status effects are a MUST-HAVE.ģ) More involved sidequests. That was absolutely not fun in the slightest. Spoilers, NEVER do that, you will effectively never get a turn, ever. Trails in the Sky has a system like that.ĮDIT: I just tried to fight 6 ghosts at once. Cure only works on one person and only on DoT effects, and the enemies tend to spam those on you, so Cure ends up being pretty useless a lot of the time.Īccessories could be more things found in buried loot, treasure chests, and shops (and act as a minor money sink of sorts). Right now there are a bunch of status effects which are nasty and yet there aren't really any tools for dealing with them. Such info would also be welcome in this game too.Ģ) Add 1-2 accessory slots, and accessories which you can equip to render your character immune to specific status effects. You could need to kill some number of them (like 10-15 for normal enemies, 1 for bosses), or the information could only appear once the specific item drops or is stolen once. You don't need to give that information all at once. What would you like to see in Earthlock 2?Īnd please keep the reviews and feedback coming!ġ) The Bestiary should list the Drops and Steals that each monster has. Such feedback is important for the bug-fixing we will continue to do on Earthlock 1, but it is also valuable input into the process of making the next game! So who should we begin inviting as we build this community? We feel it seems natural to invite anyone who took the time to write a review, give us feedback or report bugs. With the community involved early we think we can make an even better game this time around.Īs soon as we have something to share and talk about for Earthlock 2 we will engage with our community and involve them as much as possible. This is something we were not able to do with the first game. In a few months we will set up a new community for Earthlock 2. The great thing about making game number two is that we now have a wonderful community of players along with us. We are super excited and look forward to sharing it with you. It is a very exciting phase to go into early production of a game.
